Online games are a great source for hijinks and mischief, and Red Dead Online is no exception. Red Dead Online has been around for a while now, but it recently released as a standalone game. Naturally, this attracted many new players and, with new players come new memes. Despite it all, the online portion has come a long way since the beta.

Many people know that memes are a great way to vent frustration, call attention to a fun feature or an annoying bug, and just be creative. We've scoured the internet for some of the best Red Dead Online memes out there right now. Fan of the game will definitely relate to these and newbies will wise up soon enough.

10 It Smells Like Broke Up In Here

someone sad about 72 bucks in gta but happy about 50 cents in red dead online

The economy of Red Dead Online used to be a big problem. Everything was too expensive and nothing got players enough money. While that's changed now and it's relatively simple to earn money, looting is still not a path to quick riches. In a universe about being an outlaw, this kind of doesn't make sense.

Finding an enemy with cents in the double digits is a cause for celebration even today. This discrepancy would make sense if everything was dirt cheap, but it would still cost a few dollars in the game to buy a day's worth of food, so why is everyone so broke all the time?

9 More Players, More Memes

Joining any live game a while into its life can feel daunting. Newbies step into an unfamiliar world, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Then they swiftly get griefed by a level 100 player with a much bigger gun than theirs. Harsh.

Fortunately, the community on Red Dead Online is generally quite patient and helpful. Most players are more concerned about getting their own money than they are disrupting newbies. If people find themselves getting griefed anyway, try saving up for some of these guns.

8 Darn Those Pesky Waypoints

Waypoints are incredibly useful in large, open-world games. The world of Red Dead Online is huge, so it would be crazy to expect players to memorise it or traverse it without waypoints. Rockstar even added a colourblind mode so that people who have a tough time seeing red can take advantage of them.

What's annoying, however, is how long it takes to open the map in order to place or remove waypoints. If players forget about one, they end up painting the map behind them. If only there was a quick menu for them like there is in GTA Online.

7 Thicc Boahs

patrick from spongebob preferring big horses to slim ones

Horses are the primary mode of transport for players in Red Dead Online. Fortunately, there's a horse out there for just about every situation. Still, players will probably find themselves using one horse for the majority of activities. Do they go for the small and fast ones or the big and strong ones?

Both have their merits, but the thicc ones can trample a deer without even breaking stride. Those nippier ones will send players flying if a rabbit so much as runs in front of them. Choose a main horse wisely as players are on them often.

Joining a posse is a key part of any outlaw's experience. Unless players want to really lone ranger it, they should join one. One of the benefits is that everyone who is in a posse during a mission receives some money.

It's become something of a tradition for veteran players to send invites to low-level players, hire them as escorts, and help them make large amounts of money for simple delivery missions. What an honourable thing to do.

5 They Didn't Call Them Gold Rushes For Nothing

a meme about gold in red dead online and fallout 76

Trying to avoid paying real money in live games is often an uphill struggle. Fortunately, Red Dead Online has come a long way since its release, but gold is still a precious commodity. It is gold still, so...duh.

Grinding a premium currency in a live game is hard, but it's doable in Red Dead Online. All players have to do is daily challenges and the competitive modes and they'll be stacking up those bars in no time.

4 What Do You Mean "They Don't"?

Bandoliers are expensive no matter which way people look at them. They cost a lot in cash and even materials if players want to get some off Gus. They look cool, so obviously they'll want one. Why then do they serve no actual function? That's right. Bandoliers don't actually increase ammo capacity.

This. Is. Unforgivable. Since they're so expensive, it seems like they should give players some bonus other than just looking cool, but nope. Buy them if you want, but don't expect them to grant a character more firepower.

a heartbeat increasing as a situation escalates

Taking pictures of animals in Red Dead Online is tough. It takes ages to get out the camera, it doesn't point where a character is looking, and, by the time you've spotted an animal, they've spotted your character and are on their merry way.

Add to this the stress of loads of menus and overlapping button prompts and players get a situation like the one described above. This function being so cumbersome makes the Naturalist Role complicated because taking pictures of animals is essential. Harriet would much rather a player do this than kill them, but man, be quick and don't mess up.

2 We're All Clowns

Red Dead Online has such a vast and wonderful world that it's hard to avoid the feeling that Rockstar is wasting it. The Roles that have been added to the game add some great depth and gameplay, but they could go deeper.

With GTA Online being the most profitable piece of media ever made, it's understandable that Rockstar would prioritise that. However, it feels as though the hope for more Red Dead Online content is becoming more and more foolish.

1 Ah, The Good Ol' Days

players being nice in red dead online but mean in gta online

Maybe it's the proximity to Southerners and their famous hospitality; maybe it's the hats and fancy clothes, but players in Red Dead Online are super polite. More often than not, if a player passes a group of players, they'll be very welcoming.

This is a big contrast to Rockstar's other live game, GTA Online, where a dude in a leopard print bikini will fire a rocket at someone just for daring to try and sell some goods. Red Dead Online makes players long for times past while GTA Online makes people hate the times that are. Deep.
